<![CDATA[Events]]> Wed, 23 May 2012 21:57:45 EDT en-us <![CDATA[Courage Classic]]> Since it began, Children’s Hospital Colorado Courage Classic has become one of Colorado’s most-anticipated, best-attended cycling events. The 157-mile Tour winds through some of the prettiest places in Colorado, including a climb up Vail Pass and a cruise down the bike path from Copper Mountain into Dillon.
 
On July 21-23 nearly 2,400 cyclists and volunteers participate in the three-day event, as well as several thousand rider family members and spectators.  Last year, in 2011, The Courage Classic raised over $2.3 million through sponsorship and rider-solicited donations.

When the summer does heat up, thrill-seekers will race to Elitch Gardens to drop into the whirling excitement of Tube Top – the only ride of its kind in Colorado. Riding in 4-person cloverleaf shaped tubes, passengers on Tube Top will be drenched by 4,000 gallons of water as they spiral, twist and swirl through the action-packed enclosed slide that features a double spiral, zero gravity funnel and vortex turn. Once complete, the award-winning wild purple and yellow slide will be visible from I-25. Elitch Gardens is two parks in one – a theme and water park. The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer series is a project of the Avon Foundation for Women, a 501(c)(3) public charity. The Avon Walk is a non-competitive weekend-long fund-raising walks for all fitness levels. Each of the nine Avon Walks across the country offer participants a choice of walking a marathon (26.2 miles) or a marathon and a half (39.3 miles) over a weekend.
