A Tribute to Groupies

Groupie: a term of endearment musicians use to regard their devoted female fans...or somehting like that. However you say it, groupies have helped inspire some of Rock's best songs. Here's to the magnificent muses to some of the greatest musicians of all time!

Tawny Kitaen
Conquests: David Coverdale (Whitesnake), Robbin Crosby (Ratt), Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), John Taylor (Duran Duran)
She of the luminous red locks and the diaphanous white dress was a sight to behold, writhing on top of cars in Whitesnake videos. No wonder she was one of hair metal's most lusted-after lady loves. But Tawny, if you had John Taylor, why'd you marry David Coverdale? (vh1.com)

Winona Ryder
Conquests: Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Beck, Dave Pirner (Soul Asylum), Ryan AdamsPete Yorn, Jack White (White Stripes), Julian Casablancas (The Strokes)
She's a total movie star, but lowkey, she's also obsessed with indie, alternative and emo musicians. There was a moment in the Nineties where, if the front man of your post-grunge band hadn't dated her, there was a strong chance you weren't going to make it. (vh1.com)

Cynthia Plaster Caster (Cynthia Albritton)
Conquests: Jimi Hendrix, Eric Burdon (Animals), Dennis Thompson (MC5), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Pete Shelley (Buzzcocks), Richard Lloyd (Television), Wayne Kramer (MC5), Zal Yanovsky (Lovin Spoonful), Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix Experience)
Ms. Plaster Caster may not have been the hottest girl in town, but she had the most genius hustle. After she bedded rock stars, she actually made casts of their penises! (vh1.com)

Pamela Des Barres
Conquests: Keith Moon (The Who), Jim Morrison (The Doors), Mick Jagger (The Rolling Stones), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix Experience), Chris Hillman (The Byrds), Nick St. Nicholas (Steppenwolf), Gram Parsons (The Byrds), Waylon Jennings
The mother of all groupies, Miss Pamela of L.A. chronicled her adventures as the most enthusiastic rock star chanteuse of the late Sixties and early Seventies in her 1987 memoir, "I'm With the Band." Points for being a founding member of Frank Zappa's groupie-centric girl group, the GTO's (Girls Together Outrageously). (vh1.com)

Connie Hamzy
Connie is from Little Rock, Arkansas, but is by no means a down home, country girl. Her wild and somewhat obscene acts landed her a spot in Grand Funk Railroad's song We're An American Band. The lyric goes "Out on the road for 40 days/ Last night in Little Rock put me in a haze/ Sweet, sweet Connie, doin' her act/ She had the whole show and that's a natural fact."
A few of Connie's sexual conquests include members of Led Zeppelin, The Who, Bad Company, ZZ Top, and even Neil Diamond. Yeah, Neil Diamond! Connie also claims Bill Clinton shamelessly hit on her one time back in the 80's when he was the governor of Arkansas. Although the story may not be true, it really isn't that surprizing. I mean, it's Bill Clinton! C'mon! (cracked.com)
