Help 99.5 The Mountain and Feed The Children provide essentials
for Colorado's Homeless Children
In 2007 there were 12,000 homeless school children in Colorado. A sluggish economy combined with numerous wildfires has nearly doubled that number to 22,000 homeless school children today. Imagine arriving the first day of school wondering who you’ll borrow a pencil or paper from. You wouldn’t have a chance. Join 99.5 The Mountain and Feed the Children’s quest to supply homeless Colorado children with a backpack, school supplies, and a chance. 99.5 The Mountain and Feed the Children need your help.

Homeless children attend school without the basic tools necessary to succeed. The backpacks put these students on equal footing with their classmates. Make them feel like they’re just like everyone else and not “different”. Teachers report that students become more attentive, grades improve, and students are more socially integrated into the school once they receive the backpacks. It improves their self-esteem.
Since these children don’t have their own room or anyplace to store their belongings, the backpack becomes their lifeline. Many times they have to wash in the school washroom to be presentable. The personal care items help them to be clean and feel good about themselves.
For $20 you can provide them with a brand new backpack filled with age appropriate school supplies, personal care items and books. You could help five students with a $100 gift. $500 would provide enough backpacks for an entire classroom. And $5,000 would equip an entire school. Donate now!
