LISTEN: Jimmy Page Will Release His Earliest Work
By: Maura O'Malley
The legendary Jimmy Page dug DEEP into the archives and unearthed the very first pieces of production he ever created, and he'll be releasing the material on his website on April 30th.
The audio dates back to 1961, which would be five years before his time with The Yardbirds and SEVEN years before starting the mighty Led Zeppelin. Can I blow your mind for a second? Jimmy was only 17 when he recorded these songs. At that time, he had produced a bunch of demos for Chris Farlowe and the Thunderbirds. If you're not familiar with Farlowe, he's a fellow Englishman who did a monster cover of The Rolling Stones song “Out of Time.”
That wasn't the only Stones song he recreated, and for most of those covers he used Jimmy Page as a session musician.
Fast forward to today and Page is releasing The Beginning in both a CD + Vinyl package and a deluxe limited-edition version which is signed by Jimmy and Farlowe. Both can be pre-ordered at JimmyPage.com.
