What's wrong with this list?

Today, the fine folks at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland submitted their initial list of artists being considered for the class of 2011.  They are; Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, Chic, Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr. John, J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, Tom Waits and Chuck Willis.  Okay, now let me vent a bit...uggh!  Bands more worthy than Chic or LL Cool J for the "Rock and Roll" hall of fame.  Yes, Chicago, Journey, Def Leppard, Rush, The Moody Blues, Todd Rundgren, The Steve Miller band all of those off the top of my ever so slightly balding head.  Who have I left out?  To quote a movie line-"I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!"

Hey Dan - you probably know how I feel about this list. Bon Jovi being nominated before Def Leppard is criminal. There is no Bon Jovi without Def Leppard. Excluding KISS this year after nominating them last year also baffles me. Rush and Journey willget in one of these years.

It didn't even occur to me that the Moodies weren't already in. WTF?

The Moodies aren't in yet???? Seriously??? The people who make the nominations must be on crack.

It took Genesis, which is one of the most talented and diverse bands along with Fleetwood Mac, 16 years to get into the Hall of Fame. Yet, it took Grandmaster Flash a mere 2 years. You tell me.

I should've mentioned some artists in my rant, right?!? Pat Benetar and Stevie Ray Vaughan come to mind for pop & rock. Let's not forget all those pioneering metal personalities too: Deep Purple, Ronnie James Dio, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden.

Who is Grandmaster Flash? Never heard of him/them.

Are the doobie brothers in the RnR hall of fame or not

I was happy to see Todd Rundgren's name in your list, though I remember Todd's said that he normally shirks that kind of recognition, saving lifetime achievement awards for after he's finished writing songs and creating albums. He could go in as either an artist or producer. What about Jethro Tull, YES, Alan Parsons (even as a producer, Dark Side of the Moon), or Supertramp? Arlo Guthrie, Blue Oyster Cult, Hall & Oates, Emerson Lake & Palmer, and Warren Zevon all deserve consideration as well.

Peggy: Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were the creators of hip-hop (or so I'm told) :-) Frank: Nope the Doobs are not in the Hall, which is a big surprise because I thought they were...
