The Greatest Live Acts in Rock and Roll
Rolling Stone Magazine recently did a readers poll of the top live acts in rock history...I thought hey, what a great list! So following is mine. Criteria-showmanship, live sound, a long list of awesome tunes and finally...I have to like them. Well, it's my list;
5-Elton John-first show I ever saw (1972-Denver Coliseum)
4-U2-The shows are a total Bono immersion. His songs, his world views, his prowling stage presence. It's an audio/visual expression turned up to 11
3-The Who-Pete's windmills, Rogers "manly" rock vocals and the brilliance of Townshend's Tunes!
2-Rolling Stones-Even if you get Mick in a belly shirt, it's still hard to take your eyes off of rocks most legendary front man. And then there is the guitar interplay between Keith and Ron...The Rolling Stones are the worlds greatest rock and roll band.
1-Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band-Going to a Springsteen show is like going to a religious revival. It's pure, raw, spiritual rock and roll preaching from the highest pulpit. Three and half hours later, the band and the worshipers exhausted, the high takes over and the journey home is a joyous celebration.
The Dead, The Eagles, Bob Seger, those are some of the suggestions I read on The Mountain's facebook page. What would your list be?
