In case you missed it...

In case you missed it early yesterday morning (late Tuesday night) Bruce Springsteen was the only guest on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. He was there to promote yesterday's release of The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story and The Promise, a double-CD of the complete lost songs from the Darkness sessions. Springsteen not only sat for an interview with Fallon, but he also joined the host for the night's opening skit. Fallon, dressed as Neil Young and playing guitar and harmonica, did a cover of Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair," with Springsteen, sporting a beard and cap like he used to wear in the '70s, providing background vocals. Springsteen also performed two other songs. Backed by two members of his E Street Band -- guitarist Steve Van Zandt and piano player Roy Bittan -- and The Roots, the Late Night house band, he did "Because the Night" and "Save My Love."  Follow the link  to see the video!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhFh-JqQuMg

Get your Jerry Garcia Bobblehead doll...

THE SAN Francisco Giants will pay tribute to the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia at AT&T Park on Aug. 9, the 15th anniversary of the iconic Marin rock star's death. Garcia's daughter, Annabelle Garcia, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at 7:15 p.m., before the Giants face the Chicago Cubs. Garcia's former bandmate, Bob Weir, will sing the National Anthem and Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart will lead a seventh inning stretch extravaganza - 7,000 fans playing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" on kazoos, an attempt to set a Guinness World Record. Deadheads who buy a special event ticket for $175 will be able to sit in a special Jerry Garcia section and will receive a Garcia bobblehead doll portraying the guitarist's "National Anthem" performance at Candlestick Park in 1993. The package includes a lower box game ticket, food and drinks and a Q&A session with Garcia's family members, bandmates and friends. Part of the proceeds will go to the Grateful Dead's charitable Rex Foundation. In addition, pre-game "Jerry Day" activities include Grateful Dead cover bands and a home plate video tribute to Garcia, who died of a heart attack in 1995 at age 53. Tickets are available at www.sfgiants.com/specialevents , or by calling 972-2233. I googled Jerry Garcia Bobblehead and there are others you can buy.  This one in particular looks to be available only at the game (and after I'm sure on E-bay)
