Gimme it...it's mine

Ian Beck, the artist who designed the cover of Elton John's 1973 album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, wants the original artwork back. He says, "I think Elton kept the cover work... So if you are listening, Elton, I would like the Yellow Brick Road back, please, because I created it." A spokesman for Elton says, "Presumably if he does [have it], he paid for it, so it is his... A bit weird, isn't it, to ask for something back 38 years later?" The 15,000 tickets for Elton's September 3rd show at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts -- on the site of the original Woodstock festival in Bethel, New York -- sold out in 53 minutes Monday. Elton performs in Geneva, Switzerland tomorrow night.

Sports Records That Will Never Be Broken

Brett Favre, reportedly, allegedly, has submitted his retirement papers to the NFL league offices. Which means he's officially done playing football. Maybe. (In past years, he has submitted the paperwork and then changed his mind months later ... ) Anyway, if he actually is done this time around -- which many people believe -- he will do so owning many NFL records, but perhaps none as impressive as his consecutive games streak. Love him or hate him, his Ironman streak of 297 consecutive regular season games started is nothing short of amazing. According to Uncoached.com, here's a rundown of some other sports records that may never be broken:
  • Joe DiMaggio's 56-Game Hitting Streak -- The closest anyone has gotten in the 70 years since the record was set is 45 games. That's still 11 games short -- or two more weeks of baseball getting a hit EVERY game.
  • Pete Rose's Hits Record -- The big number is 4,256 hits. Derek Jeter will beat it if he can average 200 hits a season for the next seven seasons. Not gonna happen.
  • Cal Ripken Jr's Ironman Streak -- Cal started 2,632 straight games. That's more than 16 seasons without missing ONE game. No active player has more than 600 right now.
  • Kelly Slater's Surfing Wins -- Professional surfer Kelly Slater has 10 world championship wins ... and he might have more left in him.
