"The List"-October 13th

I am not happy with the nomination and inclusion process at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Let me illuminate.  Jann Wenner (founder of Rolling Stone Magazine) and writer Dave Marsh have way too much power in determining who gets in.  It's based on their "personal tastes" and not the rock world as a whole.  "The List" tonight was my way of venting.  Seven bands that should be in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame in my opinion are...in no particular order;

  • Heart

  • Yes

  • Jethro Tull

  • Deep Purple

  • The Steve Miller Band

  • The Guess Who

  • Bad Company

Who would you add?  I would enjoy hearing from you...and thanks for checking out "The List".  Tomorrow, "The List" goes Undercover!  Bob Dylan did it first-but who did it better?  Hear the songs the mad the cut as the best "cover tunes" of all time.

I agree with you Dan! I can't believe these bands are not already in!! I am particularly partial to The Steve Miller Band, but all the others deserve a spot as well! Good list!

The Moody Blues is another band which should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame too.

Dan ... I hope that you include John "Thunderfingers" Entwistle in your list of bassists. I completely agree with your choice of "frontmen". If you go to a second group, I think of those people with such great charisma and energy that the crowd would be electrified as soon as they came on stage. This would include Elvis Presley, Tina Turner, Johnny Winter (Denver Pop Festival 1969 ... amazing). What about Michael Jackson ... he could really rock. Also Bon Scott, Janis Joplin, Prince, Grace Slick, Bruce Springsteen, Alvin Lee, Billy Gibbons, Robert Plant. Thanks for the great music ... Jim

Agreed on Tull, Purple, Miller and maybe Guess Who. Yes doesn't do it for me and I don't think Heart or Bad Company really did much outside of a couple of songs (I can't believe I ever liked Bad Co. truth be told). Stooges belong in as they were unique and launched thousands of ships and are still influencing people today.

No doubt-------where are The Moody Blues? Or is it because of Jann Wenner's bias that he doesn't like the band?

I mostly agree that the bands you mentioned should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I would also add the Moody Blues--they should be in there somewhere.

The Moody Blues - 'nuff said.

How 'bout The Cars?

I believe that Alice Cooper should also be included in the hall of fame. Also, name one Madonna song that was a rock song? I can't think of any either.

I totally agree with Jethro Tull and Deep Purple. As for the others, I really was never into them so couldn't say. Moody Blues are certianly deserving. I also agree with Jim, Madonna?

Heart, the Cars, The Guess Who and what about Ted Nugent? A group of us were pondering now that AC/DC, Sabbath and Van Halen are in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame which other true Heavy Metal bands will get in. The only consensus was Metallica and Guns-n-Roses. Kiss should already be in and Alice Cooper gets no love. Better question is how many of the current bands in the last 10 years get in? In 15-20 years the selections will be very slim. Anything post Grunge and early 90's will be tough with the changes to them music industry.

I agree with Heart (they have a very good selection of material even excluding their 80's phase and you have to give it the Wilson Sisters for the female set). Also the Cars & the Guess Who. A group of us were pondering now that AC/DC, Sabbath and Van Halen are in wich true heavy metal bands would get in at some point. The oly consensus was Metallica and Guns-n-Roses. Motley Crue was a ridiculous maybe. Even better question what current bands within the last 10 years would get in. In 15-20 years the pickings will be slim with the changes to the current music industry. Anything post Grunge I think will be a tough sell.

What about Rush?

I agree with your list and a definite yes for RUSH!!!! A 3 member band making that wonderful music, oh yeah!!

Best Cover Song....I'd put The Bangles Hazy Shade of Winter up there. I'm not a Bangles fan but that song rocks. As for HOF, I'd include Chicago.

Rush has to be one of the most deserving bands not in the HOF. The only bands with more consecutive gold albums than them are the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith...pretty good company. They are each virtuosos at their instruments. They may not have Top 40 charting songs, but they routinely crank out killer music, and influence a huge number of musicians. Their live shows are some of the best I've EVER seen, and I've seen Floyd, the Dead, the Stones, the Who and Fleetwood Mac.

Wow! Who would even think twice about including Tull and Yes? Agree with you about the process.

Got to agree that RUSH shouldn't be overlooked.

Tull, Yes, Rush, and Moody Blues. The others are good but not great. I still can't fathom Madonna and Run DMC. What are they thinking? Dan -- after looking back on the comments, would you care to revise your list?

You're shittin' me. (and I rarely curse) I read this list and wept, especially because my own Very Very Favorite Band of All Time, Jethro Tull (Ian Anderson hung the moon with that flute!) isn't there. OMG it's a crime! Heinous, I say! Heart Yes Jethro Tull Deep Purple The Steve Miller Band The Guess Who Bad Company

The business loans seem to be essential for people, which want to ground their career. By the way, that is comfortable to get a financial loan.
